Haldex stands for "innovative vehicle technology", with focus on systems and products with applications in the areas of:
• Vehicle dynamics & motion control
• Performance & safety
• Fuel & environmental efficiency
These three application areas are partly overlapping. Together they represent the most important areas that drive the development of vehicle technology.
We are active in four technology or operating areas: brake and suspension systems for heavy vehicles; four-wheel-drive systems for cars; hydraulic power systems and components for off-road vehicles and trucks; and specialty spring wire products for combustion engines.
The Brake Systems Division is a leading supplier of subsystems and components for air brake and suspension systems for commercial vehicles.
The customers are mainly manufacturers of heavy trucks, trailers, buses and axle systems for such vehicles as well as aftermarket distributors.
The business is global and production takes place in the U.S., Sweden, Germany, United Kingdom, India and Brazil.
The Division offers a broad product range, including: ABS systems, compressors, air dryers, regulating valves, brake actuators, automatic and manual brake adjusters, disc brakes and friction material. The Division also has a substantial aftermarket operation.

The Hydraulic Systems Division is a leading supplier of hydraulic systems for steer and lift systems for mainly forklifts, construction equipment, trucks, turf care equipment and aerial manlifts.
The Division also supplies hydraulic gear pumps and gear motors for e.g. fuel transfer on diesel engines, transmission lubrication and fan drives in engines.
The Division works closely with its strategic customers to develop new products and systems.
The business is global and production takes place in the U.S., Germany and Sweden.

The Garphyttan Wire Division is a world leader in its main niche: specialty steel-alloyed spring wire products for applications with exacting performance demands.
The main applications for the Division's products are valve springs, piston rings and fuel injection springs in combustion engines.
The main customers are manufacturers of springs, complete piston rings and fuel injection systems, who in turn supply the engine manufacturers.
The business is global and production takes place in Sweden and in the U.S.

The Traction Systems Division was established in 1998 to manufacture and market the new Haldex AWD system that has been developed in the past several years.
The total market for AWD systems is increasing rapidly. Today about 10 percent of the produced vehicles have some kind of AWD installed. The majority of these vehicles are sold in the U.S. but there is also an increasing trend in Europe and other parts of the world.
In 1998, the Division started serial deliveries to its first customer, the VW-Group. So far the system has been introduced on VW Golf 4 Motion and VW Bora 4 Motion, Audi TT Quattro and Audi A3 Quattro as well as on Skoda and Seat.
In March 2000 a second serial delivery contract to a European car manufacturer was announced with delivery start late 2001.
